R.I.V.E.R. interns gain access to many health education volunteer opportunities through our partnerships with Yolo Food Bank, Bret Harte Elementary, CommuniCare Health Center and more. In addition, interns have the autonomy to create and implement their own projects in health education.

Below are a few of the projects completed by interns:

  • Women’s Health Workshop and Oral Health Workshop at Prevention Before Intervention Symposium

  • Outreach, Research, & Education (O.R.E.) Program

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When do you release your applications?

Typically, R.I.V.E.R. has two application cycles during the school year: A fall application to start in winter quarter, and a spring application to start in summer or fall quarter. 

What population do you serve?

RIVER is dedicated to serving the underserved population (low income and marginalized communities) in Davis and the greater Sacramento area. Most of our population speak another language, so bilingual individuals are highly encouraged to apply!

What commitments should I expect as a RIVER intern?

All RIVER interns are expected to fulfill the following requirements: 

  • 2 quarter commitment

  • Attend all biweekly meetings (unless valid conflict)

Do I need to be a nutrition major to apply?

No! We encourage all majors to apply. However, you need to clearly demonstrate your passion for preventative health and health education in your application.

What are you looking for in an applicant?

I may not be able to make the biweekly meetings. Can I skip?

Biweekly meetings are integral part of R.I.V.E.R. Interns get updates, connect with each other, and generate ideas to be implemented at RIVER events. We recommend you organize your schedule accordingly. However, please contact us if you have any major conflict to discuss your options!

I think my organization would benefit from the services that RIVER offers. Is it possible to establish a partnership?
